Predictably, the Columbus Dispatch posted an article today where Ryan Smith boasted that he has the support of a majority of Ohio House Republicans to be Speaker. He does not. Anytime Ryan Smith says a number, first subtract 10 to 15.
This is the same guy who repeatedly swore this spring that he had over 50 votes. I said he didn't and he never got over 44 after 11 public votes. In fact, Statehouse sources tell me that 7 of those 44 have already switched their support to Larry Householder and the numbers are climbing.
The great untold story of this election is how well Ohio House Republicans did despite Ryan Smith. Millions of OHROC dollars were wasted in primaries and in safe GOP seats this fall.
