That opportunity? Working with the Trump administration to implement a much-needed Medicare reform.
The administration recently proposed a rule that would reduce Medicare beneficiaries’ out-of-pocket spending on prescription drugs. The rule would effectively outlaw the secret backroom deals between pharmaceutical companies and drug-supply-chain middlemen that contribute to rising pharmacy prices. In 2017, Brown co-sponsored a bill that was similar to the administration’s proposal. He shouldn’t hesitate to support the rule now — and take on fellow Democrats who have reflexively condemned the reform without even reading it.
