Under Ohio law, the Ohio House Republican Organizational Committee (OHROC) is what is known as a Legislative Campaign Fund. It is supposed to be simply a checking account in which Republican members of the Ohio House can pool their campaign dollars, raise additional dollars, and hire temporary campaign staff to assist members in tough election or re-election campaigns.
But under current House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, the group has taken on a more sinister and oppressive role. In fact, the organization in some ways now resembles more of a wannabe mafia organization than a group that is to fairly represent the interests of its members.
3rd Rail Politics can exclusively report to you that new GOP members of the Ohio House and candidates for the Ohio House, ignorant of how the system works, are reportedly being told several unfortunate falsehoods by either Speaker Cliff Rosenberger or those close to him.
